Wunsch Family Purchases Bucyrus Club From City of South Milwaukee

The future of Skyline Catering the Bucyrus Club was made even stronger with the Wunsch family’s purchase of the club from the City of South Milwaukee in the spring of 2026 – almost five years after the newly renovated venue opened for business thanks to a partnership between the City of South Milwaukee, Skyline, the Bucyrus Foundation, and others.

Skyline Catering opened in 1997 in Cudahy before moving to the club in 2021.

The acquisition was the latest investment in the business, the building, and the community for the Wunsches, who had already made more than $1 million in capital improvements and lease payments to the city since 2021. The business has also employed more than 150 people since the opening of the club, with a payroll of nearly $6 million, and the project has become a foundational part of the redevelopment of downtown South Milwaukee. Skyline serves 300 to 400 clients each year, with the Bucyrus Club hosting hundreds of events, including 30 to 40 weddings annually.

The purchase comes amid the transition to second-generation ownership under Elyse Wunsch, daughter of Ernie and Kathy. Elyse is now a co-owner of the business and deeply involved in day-to-day operations. A South Milwaukee native and graduate of South Milwaukee High School, she got her start working as a dishwasher for Skyline Catering in 2014, at the age of 14, and is now positioned to lead Skyline well into the 21st century.
